The Karapiro Conference
centre is the main centre for the Work of the International School of
the Golden Rosycross in New Zealand. Set in park-like surroundings in
the quiet lakeside village of Karapiro, in the Waikato region of the
North Island of New Zealand, the centre functions both as the main
Conference facility for the Work in Australasia, and also as the
public work centre for the Waikato region.
The property was
originally built as the workers quarters for the construction of the
Karapiro Hydroelectric Power Station and Dam on the Waikato River,
which flows beside the property. The property was purchased in 1992 by the group of New
Zealand pupils, and the centre buildings have since been upgraded to
accommodate the Work of the School, with a consecrated Temple seating
100 people, and accommodation facilities for 30 people.
The public work at the
Karapiro Centre includes Introductory Talks,
Courses and Contemplative Meetings where interested persons are able
to meet pupils of the School and experience the atmosphere of the
Centre and Temple. In addition to the public work at the Karapiro Centre, public
presentations and opportunities to meet with pupils of the School are
offered in Hamilton
and Auckland,
and in other regional centres from time to time. Information
Packs and Introductory Courses are also available by
correspondence for those who are not able to attend in person.
The Karapiro Centre is
not open to the public except as part of the scheduled public work
programme, but interested persons are warmly invited to contact
us at any time for further information.
